What do I need to bring to printmaking night?
Just a sense of humour and willingness to engage. We have everything set out for you: lino cutters, ink rollers, carving blocks, and fabric items so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy. While we provide a selection of refreshments, you’re more than welcome to bring along your own favourite drinks or snacks to enjoy at your creative station.
What is the structure of the printmaking night?
The Evening Experience: Set in a delightful and intimate atmosphere, we typically begin the evening with drinks and a chance to settle in. It’s the perfect time to relax and soak up the creative energy of the studio before we begin. Once everyone is comfortable, you will ease into the process at your own dedicated station with all your carving tools ready.
No Drawing Required: Whether you are a seasoned printmaker or have never seen a lino block before, our talented instructors provide step-by-step inspiration. To ensure a completely stress-free experience, all participants are provided with botanical references to transfer. You don’t have to worry about drawing from scratch; you can focus entirely on the meditative rhythm of carving and the magic of pulling your first print.
Connect and Create: Throughout the evening, feel free to enjoy your drinks and snacks from our delicious communal charcuterie board as you create and connect with other guests. Refreshments can be enjoyed before, during, and after the session, making for a truly relaxed, social, and memorable creative experience. You are also more than welcome to bring along your own favourite snacks to share with the group or simply to enjoy for yourselves.By the end of the Printmaking Night, each artist will take home their custom-printed tote bag or pouch, as well as their hand-carved lino block to use again at home!
What is included?
- Art Supplies:Linoleum blocks, carving tools, fabric inks, rollers, a tote bag, or a zip pouch.
- Food to share: A delicious charcuterie board for all guests to enjoy together. You are welcome to add to the board with your own favourite snacks or treats to contribute to the spread or simply bring your own along to enjoy.
- Drinks: A selection of fine wine and soft drinks, filtered water, and even coffee or tea if you prefer.
- Guidance: Professional artist instruction in a fun, relaxed studio environment at the Lillian Gray Art Studio.
You don’t have to be an artist to be creative.
It’s okay if you’ve never painted anything but your walls before. There’s no experience necessary, and fun is our only requirement. We promise not to try and change you into Picasso overnight.
